Learn QGIS: Making a color shaded map in QGIS
Wednesday January 26th
3-4 PM
Learn the basics of QGIS, the free open source geospatial software—this workshop will demonstrate how to make a choropleth (color shaded) map and place graduated symbols representing data on it, load shape-files and .csv table files into QGIS, join data to spatial information and edit features.

Alexandra Rivera was recently named Associate Dean for Diversity, Inclusion & Organizational Development for Michigan State University Libraries. The announcement was made by Dean of Libraries Joseph Salem, who said the position was conceived after the Libraries’ 2019 strategic planning process, which sharpened the Libraries’ commitment to diversity and inclusivity and helped identify and clarify ways to support that commitment. Erin Stoddart was recently named Head of University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) at Michigan State University. The announcement was made by MSU Dean of Libraries Joseph Salem, who said Stoddart will lead the Libraries’ efforts to transform and invigorate archival services and build relationships to strengthen outreach, education, materials acquisition, access, and preservation.

Michigan State University Librarian Rachel Minkin was recently named Assistant Dean for Faculty Engagement at MSU Libraries. The announcement was made by MSU Dean of Libraries Joseph Salem, who said the new position was created to help the Libraries continue to invest in collaborative relationships across campus; support student, staff, and faculty partners; and explore new opportunities to connect people in various departments and programs with MSU Libraries liaisons.

More than a hundred years after the Armenian Genocide, an event at MSU Libraries will offer the campus community an opportunity to learn about a little-known aspect of that history: the underground network of humanitarians, missionaries, and diplomats who helped save thousands of lives in Syria.
