After awarding nearly $27,000 in March to nine MSU faculty members to fund the creation and adaptation of Open Educational Resources (OER) course material, MSU Libraries are welcoming applications for a second round of OER Program Awards. Courtesy of ASMSU’s Readership program, MSU faculty/staff and students now have access to digital editions of the Lansing State Journal, Detroit Free Press, and USA Today. Access to these journals is available via the A-Z journal list (no registration required).


Since ASMSU is still providing access to the NYTimes and WSJ with individual accounts (MSU email) required for those papers, MSU affiliates now have even greater access to popular media.

MSU Libraries Award $500 Prize to Winner of Art Contest

In the midst of a pandemic, MSU Libraries remain at the center of academic life at MSU, scanning materials to send electronically, mailing books, and even supporting art. They recently awarded $500 to Michael Matias Brimmer, an undergraduate student who won the annual MSU Libraries Art Contest. MSU Libraries Recognize Staff for Outstanding Contributions

Several MSU Libraries staff members were recognized for hard work and special contributions at an annual awards ceremony held (virtually) September 10. MSU Library Receives Largest Cash Donation in its History for Renovation and Relocation of Special...

The MSU Library has received the largest single cash donation in its history, a gift from research scientist Keelung Hong, PhD, in honor of his longtime partner Stephen O. Murray, a sociologist, anthropologist, and independent scholar who graduated from MSU’s James Madison College. Dean of Libraries Joseph A. Salem, Jr. said the donation will be used to renovate space on Three East in the Main Library and to move Special Collections to that floor.

MSU Middle East Studies Librarian Deborah Margolis has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award.
