The MSU Map Library has added several new sets of digital topographic maps:
Landscan 2011 is a world population dataset at approximately 1 km resolution. It represents an ambient population (average over 24 hours).
Oversized scanning resumed in the Map Library with the acquisition of a HP T2300 scanner. Sheet maps up to 42" wide may be fed through and saved in TIF, JPG, PDF, JP2, or DWF formats. Bring your own USB drive, sorry it won't take external hard drives unless they have their own power source.
The MSU Map Library now has a fledgling inventory of licensed online digital topographic maps.
MSU Libraries' first hosted-and-served set of digital topographic maps is of Ethiopia mapped at a scale of 1:250,000, prepared by the US Defense Mapping Agency Joint Operations Graphic.
Landscan is a world population dataset at approximately 1 km resolution (30" X 30"). It represents an ambient population (average over 24 hours).
The Map Library has a new look, with the service counter in a new location nearer the entrance. This change is part of a sequence of events that will eventually lead to a Geospatial Technology Area directly across from the service counter.
