Emily Treptow started on November 1 as the newest business reference librarian at the Gast Business Library. Emily will be serving as the subject specialist in the areas of international business and entrepreneurship/small business and career information. Her areas of professional interest include social media, online learning technologies, and information literary. Welcome Emily!
The Gast Business Library will close early at 5pm on Wednesday, November 21 and will be closed Thursday - Saturday, November 22-24. We will resume normal hours on Sunday, November 25.

Continue reading "Check out the new Business Library Audio Books Collection"...Global Market Information Database (Passport GMID) (via Euromonitor) has a new interface when you first get into the database. The new home page has a new look. Check it out today: http://libguides.lib.msu.edu/busdatabases. Passport GMID is great for industry and marketing information.
For students studying late at the Gast Business Library, Statewalk volunteers are now available to walk them anywhere on campus. Statewalk is a free service offered by MSU's chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, the national community service fraternity. Volunteers are at the library from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday and Monday nights this fall. Look for the Statewalk table in the front lobby of the Business Library.
Great news for all of you that use Simmons OneView. It does not have to be used in the library. It can be used anywhere including off campus. It does have a limit of 15 users at a time. You can find it linked on our Business databases page: http://libguides.lib.msu.edu/busdatabases.
MSU faculty, academic staff, and academic administrators are invited to take part in a new faculty discussion group on Print on Demand (POD) Self Publishing and Alternate Publishing Models in Academia. The MSU Libraries are organizing the group in response to faculty request.
Discussion topics will include: advantages and disadvantages of alternative models; resources for editing, design, indexing and production; marketing through professional organizations and trade associations; distribution through non-traditional channels, and more.
