Educational Topic: Five Points of Interest in the MSU Main Library

  • Turfgrass: Does your community think it spends too much on mowing and fertilizing its managed landscapes? The world’s largest turfgrass library is building an online full-text database of turf management information.
  • Map Library: What detailed maps does MSU have of your locality? Come see a selection of our 250,000-strong map collection 1588 to the present. We will also introduce you to our enormous collection of community planning reports.
  • Espresso Book Machine: When you want something nicer than a cheap spiral binding, the EBM can professionally and economically print and bind your report, local plan, or grant application right before your eyes. If you can PDF it, we can print it.
  • Makerspace: Open to the public, learn how to 3D print a terrain model using either open source tools or ArcScene.
  • Special Collections: Learn about artist's books, a genre that lives at the intersection of literature and sculpture, with artisanal printing techniques thrown in. Special Collections staff have selected a dozen pieces that celebrate the natural world and life in the Great Lakes region.

The MSU Library is host to a wide variety of other collections and services and is open to the public. Find out more at the Library website: https://www.lib.msu.edu/  We look forward to seeing you there!
