Grace Morris is the Imaging/Digitization Specialist in the Gerald M. Kline Digital Multimedia Center and G. Robert Vincent Voice Library at MSU Libraries, and she has worked at MSU Libraries for 12.5 years.

Morris is a client/account representative, and she is responsible for digitization standards and practices, project management and quality control, and supervision of 27 undergraduate student employees.

She served on the Support Staff Advisory Group (SSAG) committee from 2012-2014, and she will soon be a member of the newly formed Digital Preservation Working Group (DPWG).

Morris was a recipient of the 2017 Ruth Jameyson “Above and Beyond” Award, an annual award recognizing MSU support staff members for going above and beyond what is reasonably expected in the scope of their duties at MSU while also pursuing a graduate degree. A stipend of $2,500 accompanied the award.

Morris has presented at state, national, and international conferences on topics ranging from issues inherent in the digitization of cultural heritage items to how libraries can create community-based collaborative relationships to prepare for times of crisis.

She led a group of three MLIS students at the University of Washington to research and create a toolkit for libraries called “Youth Services Programming During a Time of Crisis.” The 70-page toolkit guides youth services staff at public libraries on how to respond after a disaster or crisis has hit their community, encouraging programming, spaces, and community partnerships that support children of all ages. The toolkit will soon be distributed to every public library director in the state of Michigan and is available online through the Library of Michigan.

In addition to her full-time job at MSU Libraries, Morris occasionally subs at public libraries.
