Jay Lantrip is a Library Assistant in the Fine Arts Library, and she has worked at MSU Libraries for two years. Lantrip started out as a volunteer and on-call employee in 2016 before eventually taking on her current role as a full-time library assistant in August of 2017.

She supervises students in Fine Arts, and handles many of the day-to-day operations in the department. Lantrip leads shifting projects, pouring over collection data with a fine-tooth comb to make sure Fine Arts materials are where they are supposed to be.

“I love solving mysteries!” said Lantrip. “Finding lost materials or helping a patron find the perfect art book or music score in the Fine Arts Library is one of my favorite things about working in the library.”

The most rewarding part of the job for her is helping patrons find inspiration for their artistic expression. She also enjoys making colorful displays to highlight resources in MSU Libraries’ art and music collections.

Outside of work, Lantrip enjoys creating textile art of all kinds including weaving, spinning yarn, sewing, knitting, and embroidery. She also loves gardening and has a special interest in sustainable and organic horticulture practices.
