A sweet new kiosk at the MSU Main Library dispenses stories like candy from a vending machine. Located on the main floor near the south (Red Cedar) entrance, the dispenser offers a new reading option for MSU Library users and serves as a new publishing venue for students, faculty, and staff. The kiosk provides free on-demand printing of short prose and poetry, offering users a choice of one-minute, three-minute, or five-minute stories printed on paper a bit wider than a typical receipt. JOSEPH SALEM NAMED DEAN OF MSU LIBRARIES
Joseph Salem was named Dean of University Libraries by the Michigan State University Board of Trustees. Salem joined the MSU Libraries as Director and University Librarian in August of 2018. The trustees approved the title change at Friday’s meeting.

It’s not often we have opportunities to interact with objects made when Joan of Arc was alive, but visitors to MSU Libraries have an opportunity to see a collection of 500-year-old books in a new exhibit of medieval work on display through December. The exhibit examines MSU’s growing collection of medieval manuscripts and early printed books in a variety of genres, both sacred and secular, including medicine, poetry, cookery, religious devotion, music, history, and astronomy. Lantrip started out as a volunteer and on-call employee in 2016 before eventually taking on her current role as a full-time library assistant in August of 2017.
She supervises students in Fine Arts, and handles many of the day-to-day operations in the department. Lantrip leads shifting projects, pouring over collection data with a fine-tooth comb to make sure Fine Arts materials are where they are supposed to be.
