Benjamin Hall

The theme this week is "crypto holders and exchanges." Each week on Friday, we will explore one element of crypto and provide 2-5 relevant illustrative charts. Check back next week for data on "crypto use cases."

As of February 27, the monthly [cryptocurrency exchange] volume total stood at $1.05 trillion. That represents an increase of $143.9 billion — or 15.9% — from January when the previous monthly high was registered.

Coinbase is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S. It’s valued at more than $100 billion, and commands roughly 11% of the entire crypto market (Note: graph is U.S. centric).

Roughly 50% of bitcoin holders maintain .001 BTC or less. According to today’s BTC price, that is $56.
