This is a series of open facilitated learning opportunities using ESRI ArcGIS online tutorials. We will work through different ESRI tutorials together in a group, at our individual paces. There will be a facilitator on hand to answer questions and provide an ESRI login if needed.

Compass Navigation Workshop
Friday September 13th | 3:30–5:00pm
Map Library, 2 East
No Cell signal!? GPS quit working!? Have no fear, it is still possible to find your way. We will teach you how to read the signs and symbols of a topographic map and how to associate the two-dimensional map with the land around us. We’ll also talk about to take a bearing with a compass and make it work together with maps. Weather permitting, this workshop will include some outdoor walking so, please dress comfortably. Maps will be provided but attendees are encouraged to bring their own compass.
Make a Simple Color Shaded Map with QGIS
Friday, September 20 | 4:00–5:00pm

Learn the basics of QGIS, the free open source geospatial software—this workshop will demonstrate how to make a choropleth (color shaded) map and place graduated symbols on it, load shape-files and .csv table files into QGIS, join data to spatial information and edit features.
Spatial Data Collection in the Field
Friday October 4th | 3:30–5:00pm

Need to collect some data in the field but aren’t sure how to do it? There are numerous mobile solutions to collect everything from survey responses to photos and geographic location. In this workshop, we will discuss several enterprise and open source solutions and build a field data form together using ArcGIS Survey123.
